Mark has over 12 years' experience working at the highest level of professional audio production in both world-class commercial facilities and as a freelance audio engineer. Whether providing audio quality control or simply an experienced, independent ear, he brings considerable insight and critical listening experience to audio-critical projects. He was recently hired by Powis VR to advise on the sound design for a VR App commissioned by NASA.
Mark has created countless technical ear training programmes over the years and specialises in building critical listening applications for audio education. As an independent Apple Developer, he single-handedly built a successful technical ear training application using Max software, titled SAE Parametric Equaliser Training, designed to teach students to identify the centre frequency of a parametric equaliser applied to any imported audio files. The app, featured in the SAE Southern Newsletter, was downloaded more than 1,000 times across 63 countries in its first seven weeks and reached 2,000 downloads within 6 months.
Mark is also a qualified and experienced acoustician, holding a Masters of Design Science (Audio Design) with Honours by research from the University of Sydney’s Audio and Acoustics programme. He has many years experience working as a freelance acoustic consultant specialising in small room acoustics, helping countless clients optimise the sound of their studio, live, listening, and teaching spaces.
